Week 4: Adam Parks Technology is in a constant advancement every day of our lives.  It gets bigger, it gets better, and it is taking over much of our daily lives.  Technology is seemingly always in the works, trying to find a shortcut or easy way through things, making our human existence much lazier and less inclined to work harder.  Technology, however, has lead to much improvement in our world that has allowed much opportunity and experience for us all. Technology is often seen in movies, such as Robocop.  In Robocop, he is seen to be an all might cop that holds the capacity to be the best cop there is out there, by a long shot.  Technology is often seen in movies, serving as a prototype of what is projected to come.  Telephones and modern technology is seen almost in ever single film, especially in the modern era we live in. Event 1: Botanical Gardens      Agriculture has been a large part of society for centuries, beginning first as a sign of wealth and land.  People who owned forms of agriculture illustrated wealth and dominance.  Agriculture has developed through time as a sources of food, production, and especially a form of art.  Plants and trees and rocks and all forms of nature have changed in to a form of art and the beauty of the world.  In the weeks 1 readings of C.P Snow, the idea of agriculture changing from wealth into more art based is discussed, additionally stating the multiple cultures within the simplicity of agriculture.       For the first of the events I attended, I went to the UCLA Botanical gardens.  A sense of the past came about when pondering in the gardens.  Seeing the elegance and beauty of the art of nature brought about where it all began.  It was once a part of the past culture as a form of wealth and...

Math in Science and Math in Arts Adam Parks   As majority of people always point out the separation between math and sciences, they are alike in a numerous amount of ways.  When looking at science, lengths, time, shapes, and so much more is utilized from the math fields. In addition, artists and art in general utilizes math as well.  For example, the art of origami utilizes math to a full extend. The shapes and lines utilized, the length and addition and subtraction used to make symmetry possible, and so much more is illustrated to us from the article titled, “Careers in Origami." Origami is just one of the many forms of art that utilizes math.       Math is often seen in sciences as well. In Physical Sciences as well, we calculate the measurement of objects, their subjectivity and the characteristics of it as well.  Science also utilizes lengths and time to test object and experiment and hypothesis, all based on numbers. ...

As a student amongst the Sociology department, I am devoted and inspired to seek my potential greatness in the sport of Volleyball.  As a member of the UCLA Men's Volleyball team, my days consist of difficult work and dedication to the sport, improving in any physical state I can.
